Mahindra World City Chennai is India's first integrated business city and operational Special Economic Zone (SEZ), established in 2002 by the Mahindra Group in a public-private partnership with Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO). Spanning over 1,550 acres along GST Road (NH-32) in the Chengalpattu district, this landmark township combines industrial land, offices, SEZs, homes, residential plots, and comprehensive social infrastructure rather than being a single apartment project.
The township comprises a 608-acre multi-sector SEZ and a 762-acre Domestic Tariff Area (DTA), with about 150 acres of green cover including a 100-acre man-made urban forest with over 22,000 trees. The IGBC Gold (Stage 1) certified Green Township Master plan integrates social and commercial infrastructure that connects living and working, with schools, multi-specialty hospitals, a business hotel, serviced apartments, MWC Club, retail centres, and post office facilities within the campus.
